Albany, NY- River Rats forward Jacob Micflikier scored a goal and added an assist as Albany defeated the Hartford WolfPack 3-1 win Saturday night at the Times Union Center.
Dryason Bowman, Nicolas Blanchard and Jacob Micflikier scored in the first, second and third periods, respectively, and Justin Peters stopped 19-of-20 shots faced for Albany, which has earned points in three straight games.
Bowman netted power play marker at 6:28 of the opening period on Albany's first shot of the game; Micflikier and Jonathan Paiement assisted on the rookie's eighth of the year and his second in as many nights.
Blanchard gave the River Rats a two-goal cushion midway through the second period, with the team's fourth short-handed tally of the season. The penalty-killing forward blocked a shot at the blue line and chased the carom down the ice for an unassisted breakaway score at 10:10.
Hartford sniper Dale Weise returned the favor with an unassisted, short-handed breakaway score of his own at 12:18 of the third period, but Albany goaltender Justin Peters stopped everything else that came his way and Jacob Micflikier iced the win with an empty net tally from behind his own goal line.
Peters earned his 13th win of the season as the River Rats improved to 21-15-2-2 this season. WolfPack goalie Matt Zaba stopped 27-of-29 and took the loss as Hartford fell to 20-15-1-4 this year. Albany out-shot theWolfPack 29-20 in thegame and went 1-for-6 on the power play, while Hartford went 0-for-4 on the man-advantage,
Albany completes its season-high five game home-stand next weekend, beginning on Friday, January 15th with a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the East Division-leading Hershey Bears.
