Portland Pirates News Release

Glens Falls, NY - Jhonas Enroth made 26 save in a first-star performance to lead the Portland Pirates to a 2-1 win over the Adirondack Phantoms in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,797 at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Mark Mancari and Cody McCormick scored for the Pirates, who moved to 19-14-4-2 in the season. For Mancari, the goal extended his goal-scoring streak to four games (four goals).

Andreas Nodl struck for the Phantoms, who dropped their second straight to sink to 17-18-2-0 on the campaign.

The Pirates led 1-0 after one on a late first period power-play strike by Mancari, who scored for the fourth time in as many games. The two teams played through a scoreless second period as the Pirates withstood five shorthanded situations including being shorthanded two men on two separate occasions. McCormick, with his second in as many games, struck early in the third to put the Pirates up by two. Nodl made things interesting when he spoiled Jhonas Enroth's shutout bid with just under three minutes remaining in regulation but the Pirates held on for the victory.

The Phantoms, who started NHL veteran Ray Emery between the pipes, out shot the Pirates 27-14 in the game.

The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the game were 1. Enroth, 2. Pirates forward Nathan Gerbe and 3. Nodl.
