Justin Peters Added To Canadian Roster For 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic

SPRINGFIELD, MA-The American Hockey League today announced that Albany River Rats goaltender Justin Peters has been named to the Canadian roster for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, to take place January 18-19 in Portland, Maine. Peters replaces the Texas Stars' Brent Krahn, who will miss the event due to injury.

"I thought he definitely deserved to be on the All-Star team and it's good to see that he was recognized," said River Rats Head Coach and General Manager Jeff Daniels. "When someone went down, he was the first guy that was called so it was good for him and for his confidence and it shows just how far he's come this year."

Peters, 23, was a second-round draft choice by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2004. The fourth-year pro from Blyth, Ont., has a record of 12-10-2 with one shutout this season, ranking eighth in the league with a 2.22 goals-against average and seventh with a.928 save percentage in 24 appearances for the River Rats.

"I'm really looking forward to going there with (Bryan) Rodney, it's exciting," said Peters. "After the game last night the coaches came in the room and told everyone that a goalie had been hurt and that I was selected to replace him, so I'm honored by that and excited. I've heard it's a lot of fun."

The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will feature the top talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2010 Ducks Unlimited AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Monday, January 18 (8:00 p.m. ET) and the 2010 AHL All-Star Game on Tuesday, January 19 (6:00 p.m. ET). Of the 492 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 94 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Dan Boyle, Daniel Briere, Brian Campbell, Zdeno Chara, Rick DiPietro, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Bobby Ryan, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Tomas Vokoun.
