Admirals Get by Marlies

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI- The Milwaukee Admirals received solid net minding from goaltender Mark Dekanich and outshot the Toronto Marlies 37 to 17 in a 3-1 victory in front of a season-high 12,482 fans Saturday night at the Bradley Center. Center Mike Santorelli returned to the Milwaukee line-up after being reassigned to the Ads on Friday and finished with a goal and an assist.
Dave Scatchard continued to show his knack for timely goals for the Admirals, when he put the team up 1-0 at 3:25 of the first period. The veteran Scatchard pushed his team lead in goals scored to twelve in only 18 games of action. It was Scatchard's fourth goal in as his last three games and it came on a back-handed rebound put back after Toronto net minder Joey MacDonald was unable to secure the rebound off a driving slap shot from Mark Matheson.
Mark Dekanich had a solid evening between the pipes. Dekanich turned back sixteen of seventeen shots. His performance was punctuated by an outstanding stick save around six minutes into the second period, preserving the one goal advantage.
In the second period rookie defenseman Jon Blum helped add a cushion to the Admirals lead. A hard driving Blum received the puck in the right circle from the newly reassigned Santorelli in stride and was able to cash in at 12:28 of the second period. Blum beat MacDonald on his stick side for what proved to be the game winning goal.
Milwaukee was trying to salt away another victory but Toronto was not yet ready to cede the game and at 18:04 of the same period the Marlies cracked the scoreboard for their first and only goal. Toronto's Kyle Rogers' third goal of the season tightened the score at 2-1 and got Toronto within striking distance heading into the final period.
Attempting to tie the game and force an overtime period Toronto pulled their goalie late in the third period. The Admirals defense stood their ground, forcing the puck out of the Milwaukee zone. Mike Santorelli was able to corral the loose puck and ripped into the empty net for a 3-1 victory.
The Admirals are back at it on Sunday afternoon for a 3:00 pm game in Peoria. The Ads return to the Bradley Center for Nolan Yonkman Bobblehead Day on Friday, January 21 at 7:00 pm versus the Chicago Wolves. Fans can purchase tickets by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of ten or more people receive a minimum of $2 off of each ticket.
