K-Wings Tarasuk Is All-Star Bound

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the ECHL and affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders and American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce that defenseman Steven Tarasuk (TARA-suck) has been selected to the ECHL All-Star Team for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM .

Embarked in his rookie season, Tarasuk ranks tied for second among all K-Wings defenseman in scoring with 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists), one point behind Ryan McGinnis.

The native of Thornhill, Ontario was reassigned to the K-Wings by the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL) on October 5th. Tarasuk earned his first point of his professional career on an assist on opening night (10/22/10) against Toledo.

Tarasuk joined the K-Wings after concluding a six-year junior career with the London Knights. After finishing a deep run in the playoffs last season with the Knights, Tarasuk made his pro debut with two playoff games with the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies.

The 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM will be hosted by the Bakersfield Condors at Rabobank Arena and played on Jan. 26, 2011. This year's format features the host team taking on a team of ECHL All-Stars.

There have been 52 players from the All-Star Game who have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 36 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level.

The fourth class will be inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame on Jan. 26, 2011 during a luncheon ceremony presented by BFL Canada at the Marriott Bakersfield Hotel, the official host hotel of the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic.

Kalamazoo will return to action this weekend at Wings Stadium with a pair of games versus the Elmira Jackals on Friday, December 31st and Saturday, January 1st.

For the ninth straight season, the K-Wings have teamed up with COOL 101 FM, and WWMT to present the New Year's Eve Bash. Your ticket to the game will give you FREE admission to the party after the game, which includes a Rock and Roll Dance Party in The Cube, as well as a public skate in Wings Stadium and The Annex.

This Friday's contest will also be a Frugal Fan Friday, featuring $1 beers and $1 hot dogs. Also to celebrate the New Year, the world famous, Claude "The Happy Trumpeter" will be performing on both Friday and Saturday.

On January 1st, Claude "The Happy Trumpeter" will literally be tooting his own horn as the celebrity during the K-Wings Saturday "Celebrity" Series. This Saturday, January 1st, one lucky fan that posted their New Year's Eve Resolution video on the K-Wings' You Tube channel will win a great prize, which will be announced at the game. The winning fan must be in attendance on Saturday, January 1st to be eligible to win.

Being a premium night game, tickets for the New Year's Eve Bash will range from $10.90-$15.90 for adults and $7.90 for children under the age of 12. Game tickets purchased on game day will increase by $1.

Skate rentals will be available for only $3; however the Wings Stadium Complex encourages all patrons who have their own skates to bring them to the game.
