
Mark Arcobello Selected to ECHL All-Star Team

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, has announced in conjunction with the ECHL that rookie center Mark Arcobello (ARK-oh-bell-oh) has been named to the ECHL All-Star roster for the 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic in Bakersfield, Calif.
Arcobello, 22, leads Thunder rookies with 13 points (6g-7a) in 26 games and is tied for the team's rookie lead with six goals, collecting four penalty minutes.
The first-year, 5-foot-9, 165-pound forward was signed to an AHL contract with the Oklahoma City Barons before the season. He previously skated in 131 career games through four seasons (2006-10) in college with Yale University (NCAA), scoring 116 points (49g-67a) and posting 203 penalty minutes.
Finishing over a point-per-game average in his final two seasons, the native of Milford, Conn. was named second-team All-Ivy last season with a career-high 36 points (15g-21a) in 34 games as a 2009-10 senior. He led the program in scoring as a 2008-09 junior, racking up 35 points (17g-18a) and a career-high 17 goals in 34 games.
ABOUT THE 2011 ECHL ALL-STAR CLASSIC
The 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic presented by CCM will be hosted by the Bakersfield Condors at Rabobank Arena and played on Jan. 26, 2011. This year's format features the host team taking on a team of ECHL All-Stars.
There have been 52 players from the All-Star Game who have gone on to play in the National Hockey League, including 36 since 2002 when the lineups began having players who coaches felt were prospects to move up to a higher level. There are 11 rookies on the All-Star Team, and 20 of the 21 players are making their first ECHL All-Star Classic appearance.
The game has been available live on the NHL Network the last eight years as well as being broadcast on multiple regional networks. The audio broadcast has been carried on XM Satellite Radio as well as being available in all ECHL markets.
A two-time recipient of the ECHL ¬ÅAward of Excellence, ¬Â Thunder has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons, was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine for the third straight year, and drew over 200,000 fans for the fifth consecutive season in 2009-10.
