
Ontario Drops Game to Victoria, 8-4, on the Road

VICTORIA, BC - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL ¬â¢s Los Angeles Kings, was outscored 8-4 by the Victoria Salmon Kings in the teams' final meeting of the season on Wednesday. Lane Caffaro extended his goal-scoring streak to three games.
The Salmon Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Ryan Turek and Jeff Caister. Caffaro later cut Victoria ¬â¢s lead in half with a wrist shot from the point.
After Victoria took a 3-1 lead early in the second on a goal by Chad Painchaud, Jeff Corey walked out from the left boards and fired a laser past Salmon King goaltender, David Shantz, to cut Victoria ¬â¢s lead to 3-2.
The third period saw a combined seven goals scored between the clubs, but most of those went to the home team as Victoria tallied five goals to the Reign ¬â¢s two, for a final score of 8-4.
Brett O ¬â¢Malley got his third goal of the season with an assist by Caffaro and Alex Bourret netted his first goal of the season while the Reign was shorthanded. Former Reign forward Tim Kraus registered his first goal of the season and Painchaud scored twice to complete the hat trick.
Shantz made 27 saves to earn the win, while Kellen Briggs stopped 37 shots in the loss.

Ontario heads to Alaska for games against the Aces Friday and Saturday before returning home for a four-game home stand beginning Wednesday, January 5th with a game against the Bakersfield Condors.
