
Bates Leads Vegas Victory

Las Vegas, Nev- The Las Vegas Wranglersé defeated the Stockton Thunder in front of 7,050 at the Stockton Arena on Wednesday night increasing their lead in the Pacific division. Forward Jamie Bates led the charge for Vegas netting one goal and two assists to go along with his first star of the night recognition. Goaltender Joe Fallon improved his record to 5-4-1 turning away 26 of 28 including a penalty shot from Garet Hunt. Center Ryan Huddy tallied his team leading thirteenth goal of the season on an empty netter to assist in the win for Las Vegas. Both teams scored once on their power play opportunities, but Stockton had one chance and Vegas had seven. Stockton falls to 12-10-5 on the season while goaltender Garrett Zemlak takes the loss and falls to 2-6-2 in his time with the Thunder. The Wranglers improve their record to 16-7-3 overall, 7-3-2 on the road, and 2-0 against Stockton. With 35 points the Wranglers increase their hold on the first place spot in the Pacific division to six points over Stockton.
The Thunder tallied first to start the game, but Las Vegas answered back with three of their own. Bretton Cameron found the back of the net for the sixth time this season at 6:22 of the first period assisted by Chris Lawrence to put the Thunder up by one. Sean McMonagle tied the game exactly one-minute and thirty seconds later at 7:52 with the assist going to Sean Menton in only his second game in a Wranglers jersey.
Aaron Power tallied a power play goal at: 11 of the second period assisted by Ryan Huddy and Jamie Bates to take the lead and stun the Thunder. Bates pushed the score to 3-1 at 5:40 of the second period with his sixth goal of the season unassisted.
Stockton answered back at the beginning of the third period with a power play goal from Jason Pitton at the 9:10 mark assisted by Anthony Aiello and Mark Arcobello to cut the lead back to one. The Wranglers tallied an empty net goal at 19:00 from Ryan Huddy with the lone assist going to Jamie Bates to lift Las Vegas to a 4-2 victory.
The Wranglers face-off against the Thunder again tomorrow night before heading to Alaska for a three-game set starting on January 5th. The Wranglers do not return home to the Orleans Arena until January 14th when they host the Ontario Reign.
The Las Vegas Wranglersé are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
