December 30, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
Adam Courchaine made 22 saves and three different Alaska Aces scored as the Aces beat the Idaho Steelheads 3-1 to extend their ECHL-best winning streak to six games. The Aces improved to 17-9-1 on the year and 6-1 on their current home stand. The Aces will return to face the Ontario Reign on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Both games begin at 7:15pm, and tickets are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com.
The Aces had to weather an early storm from the Steelheads, who shot out of the gates and seized early control of the game. The Steelheads took an early lead with a goal at 3:24 when Tyler Ludwig scored a power play goal to make 1-0. The Aces stayed with Idaho though and found the equalizer late in the period. Zach Harrison pounced on a rebound at 18:10 to even the score, and the Aces never looked back.
They outshot the Steelheads 20-5 in the second period and got the only goal of the frame when Brian Swanson scored from the high slot at 10:43. Mark Isherwood then added a goal on a one-timer 3:50 into the third period to cap the scoring, and secure the Aces sixth straight win.
Adam Courchaine (5-2) made 22 saves on 23 shots for the win. Jase Weslosky (2-4) suffered the loss, making 32 saves on 35 shots. The Aces power play went 0-3, while the Steelheads went 1-4. The Aces outshot the Steelheads 35-23 in the game.
Join the Aces this week for two more games on Friday and Saturday night at 7:15pm. Be part of the Aces ONE Big Promotion at both games. Fans can visit the Aces at their Facebook page for more information, or call the Aces at 907.258.ACES.
