Langkow Selected to ECHL All-Star Team
December 30, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Alaska Aces News Release
Alaska Aces rookie forward, Chris Langkow was named one of 15 ECHL All-Star reserves on Thursday morning, the league announced. Langkow will be the Aces lone representative in this season's 2011 ECHL All-Star Classic, presented by CCM on January 26th in Bakersfield. The new format of the All-Star Game this year will pit a team comprised of 21 players in the ECHL against the Bakersfield Condors. The Aces are currently on an ECHL-best, six-game winning streak, and will return to face the Ontario Reign on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Both games begin at 7:15pm, and tickets are on sale now. For more information, please call the Aces at 907.258.ACES or visit them online at www.alaskaaces.com].
Langkow, 21, is currently third on the Aces with 17 points (8g, 9a) and tied for 15th among ECHL rookies in scoring. Prior to turning pro, Langkow registered 59 points (21g-38a) in 69 games for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League in his final season of major juniors last season. He ranked second on the team in assists, third with a +28 rating, and fifth in points while racking up 17 multiple-point games. His career WHL totals included 154 points (53g-101a) in 263 games. His cousin, Daymond Langkow, has scored over 250 career regular season goals in more than 1,000 NHL games since being drafted with the fifth overall pick in 1995. He's currently in his sixth season with the Calgary Flames.
The All-Star reserves were named on Thursday after the six All-Star starters were named on Wednesday. The new format leaves the 18 non-hosting teams to comprise a single 21-man roster, and no team had more than two All-Stars, with most clubs sending one player.
