The Johnstown Chiefs (27-30-9; 63 PTS; 5th NW div.) strong play continued this past week as they went 2-1-0. The Chiefs picked up a 5-2 road win, last Tuesday night in Cincinnati, fell at home to Atlantic City Friday night, and defeated Trenton in a shoot out Saturday night. This week the Chiefs will play three games beginning with a crucial contest Wednesday night at home against Lexington. Friday night, the Chiefs travel to Cincinnati, and Sunday afternoon, Toledo. The Chiefs trail Cincinnati by five points for the fourth and final playoff spot, and third place Lexington by six points.

GAME #64 (3/11/03) Johnstown 5 – CINCINNATI 2 Forget Two Goals, Assist

Dominic Forget had two goals and an assist to lead the Chiefs to a 5-2 road win Tuesday night in Cincinnati. Sam St. Pierre, Dmitri Tarabrin and Steve Hildenbrand all scored for the Chiefs. Peter Aubry picked up the win making 30 saves, but had to leave the game with just under 2:00 left in the game due to injury. Mark Scally made one save in relief of Aubry.

GAME #65 (3/14/03) Atlantic City 3 – JOHNSTOWN 1 Scally 30 Saves

The Johnstown Chiefs five game winning and six game unbeaten streaks were snapped Friday night when the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies handed them a 3-1 loss at the War Memorial. Lukas Smital scored the Chiefs goal, while Mark Scally made 30 saves in the defeat. All the scoring was in the first period.

GAME #66 (3/15/03) JOHNSTOWN 4 – Trenton 3 (SO) Scally 34 Saves

Vladimir Nemec scored in the 12th round of the shootout as the Johnstown Chiefs defeated the Trenton Titans 4-3, Saturday night at the War Memorial. The Chiefs trailed 2-0 in the second period before Steve Hildenbrand and Sam St. Pierre scored to make it 2-2. Trenton's Dan Tetrault would score a power play goal later in the second period to give the Titans a 3-2 lead. The lead lasted 0:41 seconds as Chiefs defenseman P.L. Courchesne tied up the game 3-3. Neither team would score in the third period. Chiefs goaltender Mark Scally was named the game's #1 star as he made 34 saves in the game, plus he stopped 10 of 12 Trenton shots in the shootout.

The Chiefs and the Lexington Men O'War (31-28-7; 69 PTS, 3rd NW div.) meet for the eight and final time this season Wednesday night. The Chiefs are 2-2-3 against the MOW this season. The MOW are currently in third place in the Northwest division, and lead the Chiefs by six points. Lexington has won two straight games, and are 4-5-1 in their last ten games. The MOW are just 9-18-4 on the road this season.

The Chiefs will travel to Cincinnati for the final time this season Friday night. The Chiefs are 1-4-1 against the Cyclones (31-26-6; 68 PTS, 4th NW div.) this season. Cincinnati is 3-7-0 in their last ten games. The Chiefs trail the Cyclones by five points, for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Northwest division. The Chiefs have played three more games than the Cyclones.

Sunday afternoon, the Chiefs will travel to Toledo to take on the Storm (42-14-9; 93 PTS, 1st NW. div.) for the ninth and final time this season. The Chiefs are 2-6-0 against Toledo this season. Toledo is currently in first place in the Northwest division. The Storm is 7- 2-1 in their last ten games.

CHIEFS NOTES:

- Lukas Smital is now the Chiefs all-time leading goal scorer (107). His goal in Friday night' s 3-1 loss vs. Atlantic City put him past Bruce Coles for first on the all-time list.

- Dominic Forget has 3 goals and 9 points in his last five games.

- Jay Langager and Smital lead the team with 154 shots on goal.

- Mark Scally stopped 10 of 12 Trenton shooters during Sat. night 4-3 (SO) win.
