Columbia's Carruthers Named InGlasCo ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Columbia forward Robin Carruthers is the InGlasCo East Coast Hockey League Player of the Week for March 10-16.

Carruthers is the third Inferno player to win the weekly honor joining Justin Morrison (October 21-27) and Shawn Wansborough (March 3-9).

Carruthers scored six points (2g-4a) and was +3 as Columbia went 3-0 for the week, extending its winning streak to six consecutive games while remaining atop the Southern Conference.

In his first professional season, following four years at St. Lawrence University, the 25-year-old Carruthers scored a shorthand goal and had an assist in a 4-0 win against Pee Dee on Thursday. He scored the game-winning goal and had an assist in a 3-2 win against Columbus on Friday, and had a pair of assists in a 3-2 win at Augusta on Saturday.

The 6-1 and 200-pound Carruthers is tied for the ECHL lead among rookies and second on the team with four shorthand goals. He is second on the team and tied for third among ECHL rookies with five game-winning goals, and is tied for fourth on the Inferno with 19 goals in 47 games.

On behalf of Robin Carruthers, a case of pucks will be donated to a Columbia area youth hockey organization by InGlasCo.
