Jackals Head South for Meeting with Stingrays

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, travel to North Charleston, S.C. for tonight's matchup against the Stingrays. Tonight's game is the first of a back-to-back weekend, which will be the only two meetings this season between Elmira and South Carolina.

MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP

The Jackals embark on their first road trip of the season and start the journey in North Charleston, South Carolina where they will pay their only visits of the year to the North Charleston Coliseum tonight and tomorrow night. Last season, South Carolina traveled to Elmira for the lone meeting of the season and defeated the Jackals 5-0. The last time these two teams faced-off in South Carolina was April 11, 2014. The Jackals and Stingrays played four times during the 2013-14 season, twice in Elmira and twice in South Carolina. The Jackals won once at home and dropped both on the road. They have only played 21 times in the all-time series with the Jackals winning seven and losing three in extra time.

FAST FACTS

? Rookie defenseman Spiro Goulakos recorded his first professional goal, which was a power-play tally, last Saturday against Manchester. The Montreal, Quebec native leads all team defensemen with six points (one goal, five assists) in five games. Goulakos also is tied for first among ECHL rookie defensemen in assists and ranks second in points.

? Forward Tyler Currier scored his first goal as a Jackal in his team debut last Friday night against his former squad. He followed it up with another goal on Saturday night in his second game with Elmira.

? Rookie forward Mark Bennett recorded his first professional point, an assist, on Saturday night.

? The Jackals have the fourth-best road power-play in the league at 37.5% (3-for-8).
