Mallards Notes
Last Game
Jesse Root scored his second goal of the game 37 seconds into overtime to give the Missouri Mavericks a 4-3 win and consign the host Mallards to one point Wednesday night. The Mallards forced overtime after Jake Baker scored a power play goal at 13:50 of the third period to even the score at three. Zach Pochiro had a goal and an assist for the Mallards.
Drought
The Mallards have gone 0-2-2 in their last four games.
Home Sweet Home
The Mallards are unbeaten in regulation (2-0-1) in their last three home games.
Overtime
The Mallards Wednesday night went to overtime for the third time this season and for the first time did not go on to the shootout. The Mallards are now 0-3 in games settled in overtime or the shootout.
First
Wednesday night marked the first time this season the Mallards have failed to win after scoring the first goal. They remain unbeaten in regulation (3-0-1) when scoring first.
Buzzer Beaters
The Mallards Wednesday night surrendered the third Missouri goal with just two tenths of a second left in the second period. The Mavericks' Kellen Jones scored the second buzzer beater the Mallards have allowed in as many games. Wheeling's Riley Brace scored with just 6.5 seconds left in the first period of the Mallards' 2-1 loss to the Nailers last Saturday.
Even Steven
Pochiro's goal at 16:10 of the first period Wednesday night was the Mallards' first 5-on-5 goal in 236:48- the equivalent of nearly 12 periods- since Raphael Bussieres scored an even strength goal at 4:22 of the second period of the Mallards' 5-2 win over Wichita on October 25. They scored six times on the power play, once shorthanded and once with an extra attacker between those two even strength goals.
Rookie of the Month
Steve Michalek Wednesday was named CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month after going 2-1-2 with a 1.95 goals against average and a .933 save percentage in five games in October.
Gelly
Guillaume Gelinas, who is on a team season-best four-game point-scoring streak (1-3-4), is tied for the Mallard lead in points (7) with Pochiro and Olivier Archambault. Gelinas is also tied for third among ECHL defensemen in goals (3) and points.
Helping Hand
Mike Monfredo is tied for third among defensemen in assists (5).
Between the Pipes
Michalek made 32 saves while suffering the overtime loss Wednesday night.
Special Teams
The Mallards went 2-for-4 on the power play Wednesday night and have now scored on three of their last five advantages and seven of their last 15 to climb to third in the league in power play efficiency (25.7 percent). The Mallards also surrendered two play goals (on seven penalty kills) Wednesday and now rank sixteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (82.1 percent).

The Mallards have gone 1-0-1 against the Thunder this season and 1-0-0 against Wichita at home. The Mallards are 14-17-2 all-time against Wichita and 8-8-0 against the Thunder on home ice. The two clubs meet seven times this season.

Forward Zach Pochiro was reassigned to the AHL's Chicago Wolves by the NHL's St. Louis Blues yesterday.
