Islanders Recall Kearns, Quine

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The New York Islanders announced today that forwards Bracken Kearns and Alan Quine have been recalled under emergency conditions from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. The team also recalled defenseman Adam Pelech from a conditioning stint with the Sound Tigers.

Kearns, 34, leads the Sound Tigers this year with 22 goals, 30 assists and 52 points. His goal and point totals are both tied for 18th in the AHL this season. A native of West Vancouver, B.C., Kearns has 31 games of National Hockey League experience, most recently playing 25 games for the San Jose Sharks during the 2013-14 season. Kearns also has seven games of NHL playoff experience, all coming in 2012-13 with San Jose.

Quine, 23, earns his first NHL call-up after recording 19 goals and 29 assists in just 55 games with Bridgeport this season. The Ottawa, Ont., native was named CCM/AHL Player of the Week on Monday after recording four goals and three assists in three games last week.

Selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (166th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft, Quine represented the Sound Tigers in the AHL All-Star Classic on January 31 and February 1. In 191 games with Bridgeport, Quine has recorded 50 goals and 86 assists. He is currently tied for eighth on the Sound Tigers all-time scoring list with his 136 points.
