Indianapolis Indians News Release
COLUMBUS, OHIO - Tyler Glasnow allowed just one run while pitching into the sixth inning, and the Indianapolis Indians offense amassed seven runs on 12 hits to defeat the Columbus Clippers on Monday night, 7-1.
Faced with a 1-0 deficit, the Indianapolis (30-26) offense erupted for three runs with two outs in the fourth inning. Jason Rogers plated Max Moroff with a single to left field to knot the game at one. Willy Garcia followed with a double to score Rogers, and the frame was capped when Danny Ortiz knocked a hit off the wall in right field to advance Garcia across the plate.
Moroff, who finished the game with three hits, provided insurance in the seventh. With two men aboard, the Tribe infielder doubled into the left-field corner to score Jacob Stallings and Alen Hanson. Moroff would score when Josh Bell smacked a two-out single to left, and the Indians led by a 6-1 margin after seven innings.
Stallings extended the Tribe's advantage even further in the eighth when he belted his fourth home run of the year to left field.
Glasnow (6-2) emerged victorious and is the first Indianapolis pitcher to six victories. He pitched 5.1 innings, and allowed just one run on three hits. He registered five strikeouts, and walked just one batter. Rehabbing Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Arquimedes Caminero worked two scoreless frames out of the Indianapolis bullpen.
Ross Detwiler (0-4) conceded six runs before being removed from the ballgame in the seventh, and he was handed the loss for Columbus (32-25).
The Indians and Clippers will play single games on Tuesday and Wednesday before wrapping up their series with a doubleheader on Thursday. Trevor Williams takes the mound for Indianapolis on Tuesday night, first pitch at 7:05 p.m. in Columbus.
