Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Lehigh Valley right-hander Ben Lively pitched 6.0 scoreless, two-hit innings to guide the IronPigs (31-26) to a rain-shortened 3-0 victory over the Gwinnett Braves (25-33) on Monday night at Coolray Field.

Rain stopped play with a runner at first and none out in the bottom of the seventh, and after a 47-minute delay, the game was called due to wet field conditions.

Gwinnett managed just two hits on the night, a one-out triple by Ronnier Mustelier in the fourth inning and a leadoff single by Rio Ruiz in the seventh inning. The G-Braves have now been shut out in consecutive games, including Sunday's 9-0 loss at Durham. The club has been held scoreless for 16 full innings since scoring twice in the ninth on Saturday.

Lehigh Valley scored twice against right-hander Lucas Harrell (L, 2-1), who completed 5.0 innings with four hits, three walks and four strikeouts. Only one of Harrell's two runs were earned. Left-hander Matt Marksberry allowed a run on three hits in 1.0 inning and right-hander Bradley Roney added 1.0 scoreless inning.

The IronPigs scored the only run they'd need in the third as Darnell Sweeney drew a leadoff walk and scored on a two-out double by J.P. Crawford. Former G-Brave Cedric Hunter raised the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single scoring Darin Ruf in the fourth, and Ruf's solo homer off Marksberry made it 3-0 in the sixth.

Lively (W, 2-0) walked three, but also struck out six in an 84-pitch, 53-strike outing.

Mustelier finished 1-for-3 with the triple, Ruiz went 1-for-2 and Emilio Bonifacio stole his International League-leading 19th base for Gwinnett.

Ruf went 2-for-3 with the homer, two runs scored and an RBI for the IronPigs.

Gwinnett will try to snap a season-long six-game losing streak in game two of the four-game series vs. Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night at Coolray Field. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Manny Banuelos (0-0, 3.86) is set to start for the G-Braves, while the IronPigs will counter with left-hander James Russell (1-1, 1.16). Tony Schiavone will have the play-by-play call on 97.7 FM at 6:35 p.m.

Tuesday is "Two-for-Tuesday" at Coolray Field, as all Dugout seats are two for the price of one. Tickets are on sale now at the Coolray Field Ticket Office, call 678-277-0340 or visit GwinnettBraves.com/tickets to purchase.
