Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

Moosic, Pa. - The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) are excited to announce Sparky Lyle and Jimmy Cefalo have been added to the summer-long "Legends Series!" Lyle will be in attendance for the RailRIders' tilt against the Durham Bulls on Saturday, July 23. Cefalo's appearance is set for Saturday, August 27, when SWB hosts the Rochester Red Wings.

"The heavily popular Legends Series is adding two more big names to the already star studded line up," said Josh Olerud, the RailRiders' chief operating officer. "Sparky will be highlighting our annual Military Appreciation Night and the Cy Young winner will be here to PNC Field for the first time to meet and greet fans."

"We are honoring the amazing career of Jimmy Cefalo on August 27th and welcoming home Pittston's very own Home Town Legend. Both of these nights will be can't-miss dates this summer."

Albert "Sparky" Lyle spent 16 seasons in the Major Leagues from1967-1982. The left-hander relief pitcher was a three-time All-Star with the New York Yankees in 1973, 1976 and 1977. He helped the Bombers to back-to-back World Series championships in 1977 and 1978. Perhaps his greatest season, 1977 saw Lyle claim the American League Cy Young award after posting 13 wins, 26 saves and a 2.17 ERA. Lyle also saw time on a big league mound with Boston, Texas, Philadelphia and Chicago.

James "Jimmy" Cefalo is the Home Town Hero from Pittston, Pa. He starred as a wide receiver for Penn State University from 1974-1977 and later the Miami Dolphins. He led the Nittany Lions in all-purpose yards his senior season. He was instrumental in Penn State's 41-20 triumph over Baylor in the 1975 Cotton Bowl Classic and was named Most Valuable Player of the 1976 Gator Bowl. The Dolphins selected Cefalo in the third round of the 1978 NFL Draft. He played in Miami for six seasons, appearing in Super Bowl XVII and XIX. In 1984, he caught Dan Marino's toss that broke the record for most touchdown passes in a single season. Cefalo was named to the Pennsylvania All-High School Century team. He currently serves as the "Voice of the Dolphins" on radio.

As part of the series, legendary figures in Yankees and NEPA sports history will appear during select RailRiders' home games at PNC Field. The following is the remaining schedule for the 2016 Legends Series and the confirmed special guests for each game:
