Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs knocked off the Louisville Bats, 3-1, on Monday night at NBT Bank Stadium. The win snapped a six-game losing skid for the Chiefs. A Brian Goodwin two-run single, spearheaded a three-run Syracuse seventh inning, that led to the win.

Louisville (29-28) scored the game's first run in the top of the seventh inning. Brandon Allen opened the inning with a line-drive double to center field. The next batter, Bryson Smith, popped out attempting a bunt, followed by a Chris Berset groundout that advanced Allen to third base. With two outs, Jermaine Curtis pinch-hit for the Bats' starter Robert Stephenson, and hit an infield single to shortstop that scored Allen, giving Louisville a 1-0 lead.

Syracuse (28-27) retaliated with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. The inning began with back-to-back singles from Scott Sizemore and Pedro Severino off Louisville reliever Matt Magill. Tony Campana then entered to pinch-hit for the Chiefs' starter Taylor Hill, but popped out to the catcher, Chris Berset, on a bunt attempt. Trea Turner followed with a walk, to load the bases with one out.

Following the walk, Wandy Peralta came in relief of Magill, and Brian Goodwin greated him with a single into right field, plating both Sizemore and Severino. On the single, Turner was thrown out attempting to advance to third base. With two outs, Matt den Dekker walked, putting runners on first and second. Matt Skole capped the scoring with a single to right field, plating Goodwin, giving the Chiefs the final 3-1 advantage.

Hill went seven innings in the win, allowing just one run on six hits. Bryan Harper pitched a scoreless eighth in his first appearance for the Chiefs this season and Rafael Martin tossed a scoreless ninth for his 11th save.

Syracuse is back in action for the second game of a four-game set tomorrow night at NBT Bank Stadium. Austin Voth is slated to take the ball for the Chiefs, opposite of Keyvius Sampson of the Bats, at 6:35 p.m.
