Today's Game

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings at Frontier Field in the first game of a four-game, home-and-home series (7:05 p.m.). The Herd has won five straight games, coming off a three-game rain-shortened sweep of the Syracuse Chiefs. These two teams will play Wednesday and Thursday at Coca-Cola Field.

Winning Ways

The Bisons have won five straight games for the first time this season. Buffalo is also 10-3 in their last 13 games and 20-8 since May 7. At 31-25, the club is six games over the .500 mark for the first time since May 3, 2015 (15-9),

Last Game (BUF 13, SYR 4)

On Saturday, Buffalo rallied from three runs down to record their largest victory of the season, 13-4, over the Chiefs. The Bisons had a season-high 19 hits, batting around in a four-run seventh inning and a five-run ninth. 1B Casey Kotchman homered and drove in three while OF Dalton Pompey had four hits and three RBI.

Drew Hutchison

RHP Drew Hutchison has won back-to-back starts and has allowed just eight hits in his last three outings combined (.123, 8-65, 17K). For the season, Hutch's .194 average against is the lowest mark among all qualifying IL pitchers. Last Tuesday, the righty retired the first 17 batters and worked 7.1 innings of three-hit baseball to beat the Clippers.

Hear that Bisons' Thunder

During their five-game win streak, the Bisons offense has hit .341 as a team, with 19 extra-base hits and six stolen bases. Saturday's 19-hit attack raised their team batting average four points to .251. Buffalo has outscored their opponents 37-13 (7.4 runs a game) during the streak.

Jesus Montero

DH Jesus Montero has reached base in 14 straight games, with a .367 average (22-60) and a .397 on-base pct. Montero also has 11 extra-base hits and 13 RBI his last 17 contests. He now is 3rd in the IL in hits (61) and total bases (97) and 8th in average (.309) on the season.

Roster Move

Yesterday, the Blue Jays recalled INF Matt Dominguez, who had reached base safely in 16 of his last 18 games with a .329 average. Toronto optioned RHP Ryan Tepera back to the Herd. Tepera has struck out 10 in his last five Bisons outings (9.0IP, 4H, 0R, 1BB).

Bisons Bits

The Bisons have a winning record at home (14-12) and on the road (17-13)...C A.J. Jimenez has five multi-hit efforts in his last seven starts and has now averaged .429 (21-49) since May 13.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays' (31-26) defeated Boston, 5-4, on Sunday to earn the series win from Fenway. RHP Marco Estrada took a no-hitter into the 8th inning to improve to 4-2 on the season. All four Toronto hits in the game were home runs, with three solo shots and DH Edwin Encarnacion's two-run blast in the third. The Blue Jays are in Detroit tonight with a 7:08 first pitch.
