Syracuse Mets News Release

The Syracuse Chiefs have added LHP Bryan Harper and RHP Jaron Long today from Double-A Harrisburg. As corresponding moves, RHP Trevor Gott and LHP Matt Grace were each placed on the team's Disabled List. Additionally, IF Trea Turner was optioned today after a three-day stint with Washington.

Bryan, the older brother of Nationals' outfielder Bryce Harper, was selected by Washington in the 30th round of the 2011 Draft out of the University of South Carolina, where he pitched for the Gamecocks' 2011 national championship team. He is currently in his sixth season of professional baseball, having not yet made it to the Major Leagues. Harper has appeared in 20 games this season with Double-A Harrisburg, compiling six saves and a 1.50 ERA. Harper pitched in four games last year for the Chiefs, allowing two hits and an earned run in four innings.

Long pitched for two seasons with the Ohio State Buckeyes before signing with the New York Yankees in August of 2013 as an undrafted free agent. The Nationals signed Long in free agency in April of this year. Jaron is the son of current Mets and former Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long. The right-hander started eight games this season with Harrisburg, earning a 3-2 record with a 2.22 ERA while striking out 31 and walking only nine in 44.2 innings of work.

The Chiefs and Louisville Bats begin a four-game series tonight at 6:35 p.m.
