Idaho Breaks 3rd Period Tie to Split Weekend in Boise

Boise, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads broke a 1-1 third period tie and scored a late empty-net goal to beat the Utah Grizzlies 4-1 Saturday Night at CenturyLink Arena.

Idaho gets the split at home after Utah rallied down 2-0 in the third period for a 3-2 win on Friday. The same two teams will meet at Maverik Center Monday at 1:30 p.m. for Maverik Monday and a President's Day Matinee. Tickets are buy one, get one free with a Maverik Adventure Club Card at the arena box office.

Utah took a 1-0 lead 9:01 into the first period as Jacob Johnston threw in a puck off of a face-off win and assists were credited to Mathieu Aubin and Camden Wojtala.

In between, two successful first period penalty kills, Idaho tied the game on a goal by Wade McLeod 5:05 after Utah took the lead.

The game stayed tied going to the third after Igor Bobkov made 13 of his 31 saves in the second period.

Idaho scored off of a face-off win 1:45 into the third and then shorthanded to make it 3-1 before the late empty-net score.
