ESTERO - The Florida Everblades held off a late surge from the Kalamazoo Wings to win 3-2 Friday night at the Germain Arena.

Making his season debut, Steven Whitney finished off a Mitch Wahl pass 15:54 into the contest for his first goal of the season to give the Everblades the lead.

Shutout the night before, the K-Wings rung up their first goal of the evening 13:39 into the second period when Lane Scheidl shuffled a pass to the blade of Michael Neal for his 9th goal of the season.

Bouncing back less than two minutes later, Evan Bloodoff raced up the ice and scored his team-leading 20th goal of the season with a wrister from the right circle.

Extending their lead early in the third period, Adam Brace (20th) pushed the 'Blades lead to two goals to 3-1.

Trying to create a late rally while on a power-play and with a pulled netminder, Dane Fox (16th) brought the K-Wings back to a single goal with 1:09 remaining in regulation.

Generating three scoring chances in the final 32 seconds, the K-Wings weren't able to find the equalizer to force overtime.

Kalamazoo will conclude a season-long five-game road swing tomorrow, Saturday, February 15th with a 7 p.m. encounter at the Germain Center against the Florida Everblades.

The K-Wings will return home on Wednesday, February 18th for a 7 p.m. face-off versus the Gwinnett Gladiators on Wacky Wednesday featuring 10-cent hot dogs.
