February 14, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
TULSA, OK - Mario Lamoureux scored and added and assist, Mike Monfredo piled up three assists and Evan Mosher made 30 saves as the Quad City Mallards (24-18-6) defeated the host Tulsa Oilers (22-23-4) 3-2 Saturd ay night. With the win the Mallards held on to second place in the ECHL's Central Division.
The Mallards, who at one point led 3-0, survived a late scare after Nathan Lutz's 6-on-3 goal brought the Oilers back within one with 46 seconds left in the third period. Lutz buried the puck from the left wing circle after Oilers pulled goaltender Kevin Carr and the Mallards were assessed back-to-back penalties, but the Oilers could not complete the late comeback bid.
The Mallards were on the power play when Lamoureux scored the game's first goal from the top of the left wing circle at 16:24 of the first period.
Jeff Lee doubled the Mallard lead by firing the puck into the open Tulsa net at 1:01 of the second period. At 7:28 of the second Matt Duffy converted a Mallard two-man advantage with a one timer from the high slot. The Oilers finally got on the scoreboard for the first time with Jon Booras's close range backhander at 18:42 of the middle frame.
The Mallards return to action Monday night on the road against the Allen Americans. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday evening, February 25 at 7:05 p.m. against the Allen Americans.
