Ice Dogs Win Again, 3-2

Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs (32-19-8) had the start of their game delayed two hours against the Bakersfield Condors (29-23-5) Sunday night due to an unlikely reason in Southern California: snow. The Ice Dogs won their second game in a row, taking advantage of the road weary Condors who were stuck in traffic due to a snow storm between Bakersfield and Long Beach.

Bakersfield got the first goal of the game at 16:05 of the first period when Joel Irving scored unassisted. Then with exactly one minute to go, Cory Urquhart tied it for the Ice Dogs with assists to Ash Goldie and Ben Knopp.

Urquhart scored again at 9:31 of the second from Michael Lambert and Ben Knopp, before completing a natural hat trick at 12:36 from Goldie and Luke Fritshaw. The Ice Dogs would hold the 3-1 lead heading into the third period.

Mike Hofstrand brought the Condors to within one with an assist to former Ice Dog Kevin Truelson at 9:09, but any hopes of a comeback were squashed as the Ice Dogs hung on for the victory. The win put the Ice Dogs a comfortable nine points ahead of the Condors in the Pacific Division standings.

Olivier Michaud got the win for Long Beach with 25 saves, while Ryan Munce took the loss for Bakersfield with 39 saves. Neither team managed a power play goal, with the Ice Dogs going 0-2 and the Condors finishing 0-5.

The Ice Dogs will head to Bakersfield on Tuesday before returning back home for a game Wednesday night against the Fresno Falcons. The Ice Dogs will be hosting an Early Bird Special where all tickets purchased at the box office before 6:59 pm that night will be only $5.
