March 13, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
A Broken Record: Gladiators forward Jeff Campbell notched his 74th and 75th points of the season in last night's 4-3 overtime win against South Carolina to set a new Gladiators team record for most points in a season. Campbell surpasses Kevin Doell's mark of 73 points set during the team's inaugural 2003-04 season. Campbell collected an assist in the Gladiators 6-3 win over Charlotte on Saturday to tie Doell's mark and then set a new record yesterday.
Another Broken Record: Goaltender Sean Fields collected his 26th win of the season in Gwinnett's 2-1 win at Charlotte on Friday night to set a new franchise record for most wins in a season. Field's broke Chad Alban's mark of 25 wins in one season set during the 1999-2000 season with the Mobile Mysticks. Fields added to his record posting his 27 win of the year in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against South Carolina.
A Broken Record? - Yes Another Broken Record! Milan Gajic collected two points off of a goal and an assist in the Gladiators 2-1 win Friday night over the Charlotte Checkers. For Gajic, it was the 10th consecutive game that the Burnaby, BC native has recorded at least one point for the Gwinnett setting a new season record for consecutive games with at least one point. Gajic's streak was halted Saturday night as the rookie forward finished without a point. Gajic's streak began before he was called up to the Providence Bruins on February 7th against Greenville. During the 10 game point scoring streak, Gajic posted 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points.
This Record is Almost Broken Too! The Gladiators have now posted 259 goals on the season picking up four markers in last night's win over the South Carolina Stingrays. Gwinnett is on pace to set a new franchise record for most goals in a season surpassing the previous record of 275 set during the 1999-2000 season as the Mobile Mysticks. Gwinnett is on pace to finish the season with 311 goals averaging a little over 4.3 goals per game. The ECHL record for most goals in a season is held by the Knoxville Cherokees who finished the 1990-91 season with 377 goals.
And So Is This Record: Gwinnett needs just one standings point to tie the franchise record for most points in a season equaling the 92 points collected during the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season. Currently with 91 points on the season and 24 points available, Gwinnett is in striking distance of finishing the season with 100 points. Gwinnett tied the franchise record for most wins in a season with number 42 in last night's 4-3 win over the South Carolina Stingrays. Gwinnett's next win will set a new franchise record for wins in a season surpassing the old record set during the team's inaugural season.
