Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings announced today that Defenseman Steve Lingren signed an American Hockey League (AHL) contract with the Milwaukee Admirals and their affiliate, the Nashville Predators (NHL).

The 6'0", 195-lb Assistant Captain of the Salmon Kings will remain with Victoria on assignment, until his U.S. immigration paperwork is completed. After that time, he will be recalled to the Milwaukee Admirals for the remainder of the 2005-2006 season.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to contribute at the next level," said Lingren. "It's a chance to finish the season with a team fighting for first, and with a run to the playoffs."

The Milwaukee Admirals rank sixth in the AHL with a 40-18-5 record. Lingren is tied for first in the ECHL in power play goals (15), and leads all Defenseman in total goals this season (22). The native of Lake Cowichan has tallied 45 points in 58 games with the Salmon Kings.

"The Nashville Predators and I have worked together over the years," said Dan Belisle, Victoria Salmon Kings V.P. of Hockey Operations and General Manager, "and when they inquired about Steve, I wanted to help facilitate a deal with the Admirals." "He has been our MVP all season and deserves an opportunity to play in the AHL this season. We wish him the very best for the remainder of the season in Milwaukee."

Lingren has played 299 AHL games since 1995, between the Cornwall Aces, Hershey Bears, Kentucky Thoroughblades and Rochester Americans. His career started in 1991 with the Victoria Cougars (WHL).

"I grew up on Vancouver Island and enjoy playing in front of my family and friends," said Lingren, "Victoria has a good set of fans that stick with us. If I play next year in the ECHL, it will definitely be with the Salmon Kings."
