Ice Dogs weekly update
November 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
Last Weeks Highlights:
11/2/05 Long Beach 5 vs. San Diego 0
The Ice Dogs won their second game in a row Wednesday night, this time blowing out long time rival San Diego. Mike Vellinga, Christian Larrivee and Max Birbraer each had three points in the game, and Canadiens' prospect Jaroslav Halak earned the shutout in his first professional start with 22 saves. It was the first time the Ice Dogs had shut out San Diego since opening night last year.
11/4/05 Long Beach 3 vs. Idaho 1
It was the third consecutive win for Long Beach on Friday night as they beat the last undefeated team in the ECHL, the Idaho Steelheads. Idaho had beaten the Ice Dogs in three straight games opening weekend, but goals by Mac Faulkner, Christian Larrivee, Max Birbraer, and strong goaltending from Jaroslav Halak and Greg Hewitt proved to be too much for the Steelheads.
11/5/05 Long Beach 1 vs. Fresno 2 (SO)
Trying to get back to .500, the Ice Dogs had to settle with a shootout loss and one point despite a gritty effort against the Fresno Falcons. After two periods of scoreless hockey, Ash Goldie of the Ice Dogs put the Ice Dogs on top with a power play goal, but Luke Curtin of the Falcons tied it up just over five minutes later. The point was the 7th in the last four games for Long Beach.
