STORM NOTES
- Say Hello To The Scoring Race! Toledo has three forwards that are in the early running at the scoring lead. Scooter Smith (5g, 9a) is tied for the ECHL lead in points at 14 with Luke Curtin of Fresno and Cory Pecker of Phoenix. Ken Magowan (7g, 6a) and Todd Jackson (5g, 8a) are tied for second. Magowan is tied for the league lead in goal scoring with 7, and Scooter is second with 9 assists.
- Cann Puts Up The Stop Sign! Goaltender David Cann shut down the Reading Royals with a 39 save barrage Sunday afternoon. The 39 saves were the most made by a Storm net minder this season.
- Streaking! Both Scooter Smith and Ken Magowan had their five game point streaks snapped in Sunday's 2-1 win over Reading. P.J. Martin, however extended his point streak to four games with an assist.
- Third Period Magic! Toledo has owned the third period so far this season, out scoring opponents 15-6. They have out shot opposing teams 100-69 in the third stanza.
- Power Play! Toledo has 15 power play goals in 72 opportunities this season. The Storm rank 9th in the ECHL at 20.08%.
- Penalty Kill! The Storm is ranked 19th in the league in kill percentage at 78.9%. Toledo has allowed 12 goals in 57 times shorthanded this year.
STORM WATCH
- The Toledo Storm Coach's Show is this Tuesday evening from 6-7pm at the Maumee Bay Brewing Company inside the Oliver House, Downtown Toledo. Head Coach Nick Vitucci and Storm forward Ken Magowan will join Matt Melzak for insight and conversation on the start of the 2005-06 season and what lies ahead for the Storm. The Storm Coach's Show can be heard live on Dominion 1520 JAMZ, which is the home of Toledo Storm Hockey.
- This weekend is United Way Veterans Weekend with the Storm. In honor of this weekend; Friday morning there will be a special Veteran's Breakfast followed by a Ribbon Ceremony in International Park. On Saturday, the Toledo Storm will be wearing special jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game. All proceeds from the auction will go to the United Way.
- The Storm returns to action this Friday night against Wheeling. The Nailers took the first match up of the season 6-4 last Friday. The Nailers are the top scoring team in the league averaging 4.86 goals per game. Wheeling is led in scoring by Sean Collins (5g, 7a), and Kurtis McLean (5g, 7a).
- Saturday night features the first meeting of the year between the Storm and the Defending Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans. Toledo is 5-17-2 all-time against the Titans. Trenton is led in scoring by Mathieu Brunelle, who has 2 goals and 3 assists. Goaltender Martin Houle has a record of 1-1-0, a 1.93 goals against average, and a 0.922 save percentage. Saturday night's game will be shown on a tape delay basis on BCSN.
STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Todd Jackson (1 goal - 4 assists = 5 points) Todd netted the game winner in Sunday's win over Reading and collected three assists in Saturday's come from behind win against Victoria.
STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK:
David Cann (1-1-0, 3.01 gaa, 0.900 save%) David had a terrific game Sunday making 39 saves against Reading.
