Victoria, BC - The epic three week journey of the Victoria Salmon Kings ended Sunday in Wheeling, WV. The Salmon Kings next game will be at home for the first time this season, in the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Salmon Kings road trip started on Wednesday night, against the Trenton Titans. Victoria won the closely contested game 2-1. The Salmon Kings were on the move on Thursday to Dayton, OH where they dropped a 2-1 decision of their own against the Bombers on Friday night. Against the high power Toledo Storm on Saturday, the Salmon Kings suffered a 5-3 defeat. Victoria wrapped up the week on Sunday afternoon against the Wheeling Nailers, with a 7-3 loss.

Defenseman Steve Lingren (4g - 4a) and Forward Mike Wirll (3g - 5a) lead the Salmon Kings in points with eight each. Goaltender Rob Muntain (2-4) has started seven straight games between the pipes for Victoria.

Wednesday November 2, 2005 - @ Trenton Titans 2-1 WIN

The Salmon Kings started the team's first road trip to the east coast with a win against the 2004-05 Kelly Cup Champions, 2-1. Mike Henderson recorded his first goal as a Salmon King in his first game with team, followed by Defenseman Aaron MacInnis' first goal of the season. The Titan's reply came from the stick of Aaron Gill but one was not enough. Goaltender Rob Muntain recorded his second win of the season, while Titan's rookie Martin Houle received the loss. The Salmon Kings were out-shot 29¬

25. They converted one of their nine powerplay chances and were perfect (8-8) on the penalty kill.

Friday November 4, 2005 - @ Dayton Bombers - 2-1L

Forward Seth Leonard scored his first goal of the season on the powerplay, while former San Diego Gull Brian Gornick and Scott Cameron replied for the Dayton Bombers. Salmon Kings Goaltender Rob Muntain made 36 saves in the loss while Bombers Netminder Michael Ayers 20 saves were enough for the win. The Salmon Kings powerplay unit provided the goal and they were 1-5 on the night, while the penalty killers were scorched once in eight Bomber opportunities.

Saturday November 5, 2005 - @ Toledo Storm - 5-3L

The famed Toledo Sports Arena played host to the Salmon Kings third game of the week, against the Storm. Victoria got out of the gate quickly scoring two goals early in the first period. Defenseman Steve Lingren opened the scoring before Mike Henderson potted his second in three nights. But the Storm, stormed back! Forward Ken Magowan's goal opened the scoring in the first minute of the second peri¬od and Braken Kearns tied the game up. Lingren then regained the Salmon Kings lead when he netted his second of the game, and team leading fourth of the season. Up 3-2 in the third period the Storm took advantage of the road weary Salmon Kings scoring three unanswered goals, from Jeff Attard, Kearns (2) and PJ Martin to win the game 5-3. Six of the eight goals in the game were scored were on the powerplay, including all three of Victoria's, while the Storm finished three for 13 with the man advantage. Goaltender Rob Muntain's record went to 2-3 in the loss while Chad Collins was awarded the win for Toledo.

Sunday November 6, 2005 - @ Wheeling Nailers - 7-3L

Victoria's offense looked sharp in the early going for the second straight game when they opened the WesBanco Arena with two quick goals. Defenseman Kurt Drummond was first on the board, with his first of the season, followed by Forward Mike Henderson's third goal in his first four games with the Salmon Kings. The wheels on the bus were very tired as the game wore on and the Nailers would score six unanswered goals from Sean Collins, Kurtis McLean, Mike Doyle, Terry Virtue, Eric Sonnenberg and Jordan Cameron. Salmon Kings Captain Ryan Wade responded with Victoria's third and final goal before Nailers Forward McLean finished up the scoring with his second of the afternoon, to make the final 7-3. For the first time in the east the Salmon Kings powerplay was held pointless, while the Nailers was firing on all cylinders, finishing the matinee special three for four. Goaltender Rob Muntain's record moves to 2-4-0 with the loss, while Pittsburgh Penguins prospect Andy Chiodo's record is 5-1-0.

Looking Ahead

The Victoria Salmon Kings long awaited arrival in the brand new Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre will be realized on Thursday night, against the Stockton Thunder. Similar to Victoria's inaugural year the Thunder start the season on a 14 game road trip. They will visit the Salmon Kings for games five, six and seven beginning on Thursday November 10, 2005. The Salmon Kings will play six games at home, three against the Thunder, then three against the West Division leading Idaho Steelheads the fol¬lowing week.
