Trenton falls to Victoria, downs Johnstown in shootout
November 7, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans took the ice for another short week of play and the beginning of three consecutive games at Sovereign Bank Arena.
Facing off against the Victoria Salmon Kings for the first time in team history, the Titans spotted the opposition a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. Aaron Gill's first goal of the season at 12:56 of the third helped cut the Kings' lead in half, but Trenton would come no closer falling 2-1. Martin Houle was strong in net, stopping 23 shots, as the Titans also went 8-for-9 on the penalty kill.
The Titans looked for some redemption on Friday night against the Johnstown Chiefs. For the first time this season, the Titans scored the first goal with Ned Havern's marker at 16:21 of the first period. Despite another goal added by Havern in the second frame, the two teams would go through the overtime locked in a 2-2 tie. In the ensuing shootout, Scott May provided all the scoring Trenton needed, as Houle stopped all five Chiefs shooters for his first professional victory.
The Titans complete their homestand against the Reading Royals at 7:00pm on Wednesday, November 9, before hitting the road for three games in three days. Trenton will take on the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday, November 11 at 7:30pm, the Toledo Storm at 7:35pm on Saturday, November 12 and the Dayton Bombers on Sunday, November 13 at 2:00pm
