Atlanta Gladiators News Release
A First!
Rookie forwards Scott Mifsud and Derek Nesbitt each scored their first professional goals for the Gladiators in Saturday's 5-4 loss at Greenville. Nesbitt recorded his first professional point in Friday's 5-4 win at South Carolina while Mifsud posted his first professional point in the Gladiators 6-0 win at Pensacola on October 22nd.
Still Unbeaten:
Gladiators netminder Sean Fields made 18 saves for the Gladiators in Friday's 5-4 win over the South Carolina Stingrays to improve to a perfect 3-0-0 on the season. Fields recorded a 6-0 shutout win over Pensacola on October 22nd and posted a 4-3 overtime win over Augusta on October 28th to earn runner up honors for ECHL Goaltender of the Month award for October.
Four in a Row!
Left winger Chris Durno scored the Gladiators first goal in the Gwinnett's 5-4 loss at Greenville on Saturday night. For Durno, it was his fourth goal of the season and the fourth consecutive game for the forward with at least one goal. The forward has a posted 4 goals and 5 assists for 9 points this season for the Gladiators.
Lending a Helping Hand:
Despite posting 5 points on the season, defenseman Troy Milam is still looking for his first goal of the season. The Lake Orion, Michigan native currently has a 4-game assist steak. He has recorded at least one assist in each of the Gladiators last 4 games as he picked up two helpers in Friday's 5-4 win at South Carolina and added an assist in Saturday's 5-4 loss at Greenville.
Picking up a Pair:
The Gladiators have scored two power play goals in each of their last four games. The only game this season that the Gladiators have not picked up a power play goal was the 1-0 shootout loss in the season opener against the Charlotte Checkers. Despite posting two goals in each game on the power play, Gwinnett only ranks 17th on the man advantage during that span. In three of the last four games, the Gladiators had at least nine power play chances in those contests.
Team Photo Night:
Saturday night is Team Photo Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at the Gladiators host the Florida Everblades at 7:35 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will receive a free team photo courtesy of Monarchcomputer.com, Charter Communications, Star 94 FM and The AJC Gwinnett News.
