Long Beach Ice Dogs News Release
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Boston Bruins, have announced the signing of former Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks forward Kip Brennan. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Brennan, who has played in parts of four seasons in the NHL with the Kings, Ducks, and the Atlanta Thrashers, started the year with the Toronto Marlies in the AHL recording six penalty minutes in one regular season game. The 6' 4" 220 pound winger out of Kingston, ONT played in 58 NHL regular season games with the Kings, Ducks, and Thrashers and recorded one goal, one assist, and 210 PIMS.
A former 4th round draft pick by the Los Angeles Kings in 1998, Brennan has played 162 games in the AHL with the Lowell, Manchester, Chicago, Portland, and Toronto recording 31 points and 882 penalty minutes. Before turning professional, Kip played with Windsor and Sudbury in the OHL.
"Kip will give us the element of size to enable us to become a more dominant team," said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Adduono. "Brennan will be a tremendous asset to our team as he brings experience from the NHL and the AHL and no doubt that he will help us offensively and in the locker room."
"I feel that I can help out the Ice Dogs in many different areas," said Brennan. "I want to help the Ice Dogs win and at the same time develop my skills. I had the opportunity to play in other places but I felt Long Beach was a good fit."
The Ice Dogs next home game will be December 15th vs the Victoria Salmon Kings during Fishing Night. Fans will receive an Ice Dogs fishing tackle upon entry. The $2 beer garden will be open from 6-7:30pm and $2 hot dogs will be available throughout the game. Tickets and group sales for the 2006-07 season are still on sale now.
