Titans tied atop North Division

Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans took the final two contests of their three-game week to lift themselves into a tie for the top spot in the North Division with the Toledo Storm. The Titans began play on Wednesday at WesBanco Arena in the first meeting of the season against the Wheeling Nailers. The Titans fell 7-3, but found redemption during the rematch on Friday in a 7-2 drubbing of the Nailers. Trenton completed the weekend on a high note with a four-goal third period that gave the good guys a 6-3 victory over the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday. The Titans have now won four of their last five to raise their record to 9-4-0.
NAILED DOWN: The Titans were unable to contain the Nailers' top line of Jordan Cameron, Sean Collins and Kurtis McLean in a 7-2 loss on Wednesday at the WesBanco Arena. The trio combined for ten points (4g, 6a) with Collins' four-point (1g, 3a) effort leading the way. Trailing 3-1, Trenton was able to knot the score off goals by Jim Henkel and John Laliberte, but Collins and McLean struck back quickly for Wheeling with goals separated by twenty-one seconds to give Wheeling the lead for good late in the second stanza. Gregg Naumenko took the loss in relief of Joel Martin.
HAMMERING BACK: After a lackluster performance on Wednesday against Wheeling, Trenton responded with a dominating 7-2 win over the Nailers on Friday at the Sovereign Bank Arena. The Titans took a 2-1 lead into the second period and put the contest away as Les Haggett picked up his fifth goal of the year and Chris Cava and Olivier Magnan both notched their first of the season. Trenton used another strong night from the power play unit (2-for-6) and goaltender Joel Martin (33 saves) to help gain the win.
RAIN DANCE: The Titans were able to overcome a 2-for-6 effort from the Johnstown Chiefs' power play and put up four goals in the third as they came away with a 6-3 win. Though Trenton led 2-1 late in the second period, Johnstown would use two quick goals on the man-advantage from Grant Jacobsen and Maxime Boisclair to skate into the locker room up 3-2. It'd be all for naught as the Titans charged back outshooting the Chiefs 15-5 in the third and getting goals from Mike Pandolfo, Troy Riddle, John Laliberte and an empty-netter by Rosario Ruggeri. Naumenko gathered his third victory of the season stopping 23-of-26 shots.
TOP LINE SUCCESS: As members of the top line of Gregg Johnson, John Laliberte and Mike Pandolfo go, so does the success of the Trenton Titans. The Titans are undefeated when any member of their top line registers more than one point in game. Each player has notched five multi-point games during which Trenton is a collective 7-0-0.
GOAL MACHINE: Trenton currently leads the ECHL in scoring, averaging 4.62 goals a game and has put up 5.80 goals per game in their last five. They have scored three or more goals in 11 of the 13 games they have played thus far registering a 9-2-0 record. The Titans have doubled their offensive production from last season when they registered only 2.31 a contest.
POSITIVE RESPONSE: Even when falling to the opposition, the Titans have done a tremendous job of responding in the next game with a victory. So far this season, Trenton is 4-0-0 after a loss and has yet to lose back-to-back games.
QUICK HITS: The Titans are 4-0-0 on Saturdays. ...Trenton has outshot the opposition in three of their last four matches, going 3-1-0 during that span. ...Jim Henkel is currently riding a five-game scoring streak (3g, 3a). ...Gregg Johnson set a team-season high with three assists on Saturday versus Johnstown.
ALONG THE BOARDS: "Along the Boards," the Trenton Titans' weekly talk radio show, returns on Wednesday, November 29 as it debuts at the Sportsmen's Pub in Trenton, NJ at 7:00pm. "Along the Boards" can also be heard this week on Wednesday at 9:30pm on WBCB-1490AM. Sportsmen's Pub is located at 819 Lalor Street in Trenton, NJ.
