Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Michael Mariot and Kyle Muller locked in a pitchers' duel through 4.2 innings, but Eddie Rosario crushed a two-out grand slam to send the Gwinnett Stripers to a 4-1 win over the Louisville Bats Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Mariot worked 2.0 easy innings to open his start and induced a groundball double play in the third to escape his first sign of trouble. However, following a 1-2-3 fourth inning, he loaded the bases on a pair of walks and double from Sean Kazmar Jr in the fifth.

After a borderline call extended Roasario's at-bat, Rosario made the most of the opportunity with a blast that landed on top of the Humana Cabana.

Opposing starter Muller allowed only an unearned run through his 6.0 innings. He whiffed four and issued three walks en route to the win.

The Bats plated a run against the opposing lefty when Jan Hernandez singled for Louisville's lone hit and took second as the Gwinnett left fielder had issues corralling the grounder. After advancing to third on a grounder to the right side, Hernandez came plateward on a ripped comebacker from Chris Okey that ricocheted off Mullers cleat.

Jessie Biddle, Trevor Kelley and Dylan Lee completed the shutout with an inning of work apiece.

The Bats and Stripers continue their six-game series Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. RHP Bo Takahashi (3-6, 4.50) gets the ball against Gwinnett's RHP Kyle Wright (4-4, 3.64).
