Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs and Hamilton Police announced today that the organizations have teamed up to commit to reducing impaired driving. The Hamilton Police will begin to issue tickets - Bulldogs game tickets - to drivers who successfully complete RIDE lanes. With the holiday season now here, the organizations have partnered to remind motorists not to drink and drive and to save lives that might otherwise be lost.

Hamilton Police will be handing out vouchers* to drivers who go through RIDE lanes. The voucher can be turned into the Copps Coliseum box office for one free admission ticket to one of six upcoming 'Dogs games.

" We thank the Hamilton Bulldogs for partnering with us, for showing their support of this community and its citizens", said Hamilton Police Chief Glenn De Caire. " The vouchers they have so generously donated are our way of thanking drivers for driving safe."

" It's our home-and-home series, drivers who are driving home safely, get a ticket to a Hamilton Bulldogs home game", said De Caire.

" The Hamilton Bulldogs are happy to be partnering with the Hamilton Police Service to reduce impaired driving everywhere by supporting police spot checks and by encouraging the public to look for other alternatives to driving impaired", said Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford.

In the city of Hamilton, there have been three fatal motor vehicle collisions involving alcohol this year and Hamilton Police have made over 400 alcohol-related arrests.

Hamilton Police conduct RIDE lanes throughout the year. By the end of November, over 135,000 vehicles have been topped. Thousands more cars are expected to be pulled over throughout the month of December as police step up their efforts in road safety. The partners are also reaching out to all citizens through Operation Look Out. Citizens are encouraged to immediately call 9-1-1 if they see a suspected impaired driver. Callers will remain anonymous.
