Canucks Recall Ryan Parent

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have recalled defenceman Ryan Parent from his conditioning stint with the Moose.

Parent, 23, was assigned to the Moose on conditioning on Nov. 26/10. While with Manitoba, Parent played seven games recording one assist and 13 penalty minutes. Earlier in the season he played in four games with the Canucks and recorded no points or penalty minutes. Parent was obtained by Vancouver along with forward Jonas Andersson on Oct. 5 from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenceman Shane O'Brien and right winger Dan Gendur.

The Prince Albert, SK native has played in 106 NHL games in four pro seasons with the Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers. In the NHL, he has recorded seven points (1g, 6a) and 36 penalty minutes. Parent played in 17 games for the Flyers during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs and appeared in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks. He has played in 81 career AHL games with the Moose and Philadelphia Phantoms. In the AHL, Parent has scored 11 points (2g, 9a) and 77 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
