Pirates Sign Legault

PORTLAND, ME - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced today that they have signed Maxime Legault to an AHL Standard Player's Contract.

The 21 year-old from Ste. Agathe, Quebec has a goal and two assists to go along with 55 minutes in penalties in 22 games with the Pirates this season. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound forward also appeared in five games with the Pirates last season without registering a point.

In another roster move, the Pirates announced today that they have signed forward Justin Bowers to a Professional Tryout. The 25 year-old Halifax, Nova Scotia native had nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points in 23 games with the ECHL's Greenville Road Warriors this season. In total, the 6-foot, 186-pound forward has played in 29 AHL games registering five goals and four assists for nine points with Lake Erie and Quad City (in 2008-09) and Abbotsford (in 2009-10).

The Pirates hit the road for three games this weekend facing the Providence Bruins, Adirondack Phantoms, and Manchester Monarchs.

Tonight the game can be heard live from the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence as the Pirates face the Bruins in a 7:05 p.m. start. Saturday, Portland will be in Glens Falls, NY taking on the Phantoms in a 7 p.m. faceoff before wrapping up the weekend in Manchester on Sunday in a 3 p.m. start. All Pirates road games can be heard live on News Talk 95.5 WLOB and on-line at portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m. in Providence, 6:45 p.m. in Adirondack, and 2:45 p.m. in Manchester.

The Pirates return home next Saturday (December 18) at 7 p.m. to take on the Monarchs. It's another Bud Light Hockey Night in Portland as Five County Credit Union will be providing a free Pirates T-shirt to the first 2,500 fans. Fans (18 years and older) will have the opportunity to win a chance at $10,000 in cold hard cash! The Pirates will also honor the area's High School Fall Champions.
