February 8, 2020 - ECHL (ECHL)
Newfoundland Growlers News Release
The Newfoundland Growlers scored 4 unanswered goals in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory against the Adirondack Thunder Saturday night in Glens Falls, New York.
The Adirondack Thunder opened the scoring 17:20 into the first period after Casey Pierro-Zabotel put the puck past Growlers netminder Angus Redmond. While the Growlers outshot the Thunder 12-6 in the first period the Thunder took a 1-0 lead into the second frame.
Casey Pierro-Zabotel scored again, this time on the powerplay, 7:04 into the second period to put the Thunder up by 2. The Growlers fought off some penalty trouble in the second and eventually, Zach O'Brien found the back of the net behind Thunder goalie Eamon McAdam. The Growlers entered the third period down by one goal.
Dylan Vander Esch found his second goal in as many games to tie the game a 2 halfway through the third period. Adirondack found their own penalty trouble in the third period and the Growlers capitalized as Aaron Luchuk buried a rebound for a powerplay marker to give the Growlers a 3-2 lead.
Thunder goalie Eamon McAdam got tossed from the game shortly after the Luchuk goal for arguing the play on the ice with the referee. Evan Cormier played out the rest of the game in the Thunder crease. Riley Woods added an insurance goal for the Growlers late in the frame to give the squad from Newfoundland a 4-2 win.
