Utah Grizzlies News Release

Stockton, California - The Utah Grizzlies (27-16-4-1) battled back from a 1-0 deficit late in the second period and defeated the Stockton Thunder (26-17-4-1) 2-1 Friday night in California in a battle of two of the conference's top three teams.

Andrew Engelage stopped 27 of 28 shots, including 11 in the third period and one at the buzzer, to improve to 17-7-3-1 as the Grizzlies ran their unbeaten streak to five games at 4-0-1-0.

"It was a real tight game and both teams had some great scoring chances as both goalies played well," said Grizzlies Head Coach Kevin Colley. "Parnham scored a timely goal and it gave us a big road win against one of the top teams in the conference."

Max Tanguay buried Utah's first goal 10:33 after Stockton's only goal was scored on the power-play. All five Utah skaters touched the puck on the play as Simon Ferguson and Hugo Carpentier moved the puck up ice and Tanguay would have drawn a penalty going hard to the net.

Brett Parnham, roped in a puck from the slot, as he picked up a clearing attempt and scored his team leading 14th goal of the year 3:50 into the third period. Parnham's game-winning score came just moments after being denied on a beautiful setup in front of the net by Simon Ferguson.

Utah continues their road trip Saturday in Stockton. Face-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Tuesday, February 15 with Alaska to open a four-game in five-night home stand. Face-off each night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
