Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - In the final game of their three-game series with Greenville, the Florida Everblades (27-22-3) earned a point in the standings, but dropped a 4-3 decision falling in the 12th round of a shootout.

The Road Warriors (29-16-2) erased a two-goal third period deficit to get the game into overtime, then the shootout with a pair of goals by Andrew Carroll.

The Everblades staked themselves to a 3-1 lead just over eight minutes into the final period on two goals by Alex Hutchings. The first coming at the 6:47 mark when he converted a 2-on-1 rush by one-timing home a shot from the left circle off a pass from Francis Lemieux.

Hutchings then notched his ninth goal of the season at 8:56 deflecting a pass from Bobby Raymond between the pads of Road Warriors goalie Nic Riopel.

The two-goal advantage however lasted just over 30 seconds as Carroll got Greenville back to within a goal at 9:28 with his eighth goal of the year. Carroll then tied the game at three at 14:57 with a power play goal after picking up a rebound off a blocked shot at the top of the crease and lifting it past Everblades net-minder Bobby Goepfert.

After neither team scored in the five-minute overtime period, the game moved to a shootout where a winner wouldn't be determined until the 12th round. Twice the Everblades had a chance to win the game in the shootout after goals by Mike McKenzie and Lemieux, but both time the Road Warriors answered with goals from Jacob Lagace and Mark Voakes. Finally in the 12th round after Hutchings was stopped by Riopel, Lagace slipped a back-hand shot past Goepfert for the win.

Greenville opened the scoring midway through the first period with a power play marker from Jimmy Kilpatrick, but that was answered by a short-handed goal from Ethan Graham just past the mid point of the second period for the Everblades.

Goepfert (19-11-3) earned a tie in the standings after making 40 saves, while Riopel improved to 12-7-1 after stopping 28 shots. .
