Wranglers Fall to Jackals, 4-3

Las Vegas, Nev- The Las Vegas Wranglers® were defeated by the Elmira Jackals Friday night at the Orleans Arena in the first meeting ever between the two teams. With the loss the Wrangles continue on a two-game skid while the Jackals come off their six-game losing streak with the win in Vegas. Garrett Zemlak tallies his first win this season in a Jackals' sweater turning away 26 of 29 after coming over in a trade from Stockton. Joe Fallon takes the loss turning away 24 of 28 and falls to 16-8-1 after winning his last seven consecutive starts. Las Vegas went 2-8 on the power play while the Jackals struck once in their three opportunities.

Eric Regan scored the lone goal of the first period for the Jackals at 10:47 assisted by Justin Donati and Matt Hoffman to put Elmira up early as both teams headed to the intermission. Las Vegas was outshot 13-4 in the first period.

Vegas answered back in the second period with Chris Higgins' fourth goal of the season assisted by Ryan Huddy and Tyler Mosienko to knot the game at one. Elmira would take the lead again before the period ended at 4:31 with Andrew Sweetland's eighteenth goal of the season assisted by Eric Regan and Justin Donati. After two periods Elmira was on top 2-1, and had outshot the Wranglers 19-12.

Elmira extended their lead in third period at 10:37 with A.J. Perry's fifteenth goal of the season assisted by Matt Hoffman. Perry would tally again at 13:51 of the third period while on the power play assisted by Eric Reagan and Justin Donati to give Elmira a 4-1 lead. Las Vegas would tally two late power play goals after Chris Frank's five-minute major penalty. The first came at 16:18 of the third period with Matt Price's third goal of the season assisted by Ryan Huddy and Chris Higgins which cut the deficit to two. The Wranglers brought themselves within one goal at 19:52 of the third period with Geoff Paukovich's sixth goal of the season assisted by Ryan Huddy and Blake Gallagher, but there was not enough time left on the clock as the Wranglers had one more chance to tie the game but came up short falling to the Jackals 4-3.

The same two teams battle again tomorrow night and Tuesday night as well at the Orleans Arena. The puck drops at 7:05pm.
