Grizzlies Look To Find The Back Of The Net Vs. Ducks
March 11, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Utah Grizzlies News Release
The Grizzlies (16-39-1-4) have had a difficult time as of late beating the Cincinnati goaltenders as the duo of Fredric Cassivi and Ilya Bryzgalov have combined to post 184:24 consecutive minutes of shutout hockey versus Utah. On the season, the Ducks have won all five games including the two back in Utah in October (one in a shootout). Utah is not the only team having trouble scoring against the Ducks who find themselves in the third spot by a point over Houston in the Western Division playoff hunt, the rest of the league has managed to average just 1.40 goals per game in the last 10 games versus Cincy. High draft picks Joffrey Lupul, Stanislav Chistov and Michael Holmqvist lead the way for Cincinnati and former Grizzly Zenon Konopka is having a breakout year posting 15 goals with 19 assists and 187 penalty minutes. For Utah, tonight marks game three of a six game home stand that has Utah 0-1-1-0 thus far. The Grizzlies are coming off their 11th shutout loss of the season on Wednesday (3-0 to Hartford) and have been blanked in two of their last three games.
Tonight's Storylines:
- Utah is 4-3-1-1 in their last nine home games.
- Cincinnati has shutout the Grizzlies in each of the last three games.
- Jamie Storr is 3-3 with a 1.73 GAA and a .950 save percentage since joining the Grizzlies
- Jarrod Skalde is one assist shy of 500 professional assists.
- Former Grizzly Zenon Konopka is tied for the Ducks team lead with 15 goals and second with 187 PIM.
- Joffrey Lupul has eight points (3-5 -8) in five games versus the Grizzlies.
- Cincy is second only to Rochester since Dec.4 with a 25-12-1-1 record.
- Forwards Martin Podlesak (shoulder), Mike Stutzel (upper body), Sheldon Keefe (knee), Doug Doull (upper body) and Jeff Taffe (facial injuries) along with defenseman Rick Berry (lower body) are all out of the line-up for Utah.
Next Game: The Grizzlies will host Cincinnati again tomorrow night with face-off scheduled for 7:05 PM (mst)
