
Bruins fall in shootout

Providence, RI -- The Providence Bruins and Portland Pirates played the ninth game of their 10-game season series on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence, with the Pirates taking a 4-3 shootout decision. The Bruins are 4-4-0-1 against Portland this season. Providence picked up a point in the standings, and remains in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with their 30-24-3-7 record (70 points).
Bruin left wing Andy Hilbert scored two power play goals, his 14th and 15th of the season, and 31st and 32nd overall. Hilbert leads the team and ranks fourth in AHL scoring with 32-35-67 totals in 64 games. He ranks second in AHL goal scoring, and is tied for second in power play goals, behind teammate Brad Boyes, who has 16.
Providence defenseman Kevin Dallman tied the game at 3-3 on a third period power play goal, his seventh goal of the season.
Boyes and center Keith Aucoin had two assists apiece to continue their hot streaks. Boyes has points (11-10-21) in 15 of his last 19 games, and is tied for seventh in league scoring with 27-37-64 totals in 64 games. He also scored the Bruins' only goal in the shootout. Aucoin has points (9-17-26) in 17 of his last 20 games, and ranks third on the club with 18-37-55 totals in 57 games.
Goaltender Chris Madden made 11 saves on 13 shots in the first period, before being replaced by Matt Underhill at the start of the second period. Underhill made 23 saves before giving up two goals in the shootout. Underhill is 1-1-2 this season.
The Bruins visit the Worcester IceCats on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. All the action will be broadcast live on WDDZ AM-550, and online at www.providencebruins.com.
The Bruins return home to host the Albany River Rats on Sunday, March 13 at 4:05 p.m. Following the game, Bruin forwards David Gove and Pat Leahy will sign autographs free of charge on the concourse behind Section 110.
