Grizzlies Hang On In Anchorage

Anchorage, Alaska - The Utah Grizzlies held on Friday night and defeated the Alaska Aces 6-4 at Sullivan Arena. The win was Utah's first-ever in nine tries in Alaska. Utah tied an all-time team record with five power-play goals in the game.

Trailing 1-0 in the second, the Grizzlies exploded for five-straight goals (4 power-play, 1 shorthanded) on special teams within a span of 6:59 to take a 5-1 lead. Ryan Kinasewich had two goals for Utah with Blake Robson, Jimmie Kraft and Andy Sertich (SH) also tallying scores for the Grizzlies.

Alaska stormed back with three-straight goals, before Brendan Cook got a third period power-play goal to make the score 6-4 Utah.

Utah rookie all-star Andy Sertich had one goal and three assists in the game. Ryan Kinasewich had two goals and an assist for the Grizzlies.

Sean Fields stopped 24 of 28 shots in the win.

Utah played their second-straight game without new acquisitions Joel Irving and Shawn Thompson. The two have been unable to get a flight into Anchorage following a Tuesday trade with the Bakersfield Condors.

The Grizzlies and Aces meet for the third time in four evenings Saturday in Anchorage. Face-off is scheduled for 9:15 p.m.
