Long Beach wins 3-2 in overtime, William Hung a hit at the Long Beach Arena

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Boston Bruins, snapped the Fresno Falcons eight game win streak with a 3-2 win in overtime on Saturday night on "Idol Karaoke Night."

Ash Goldie scored the game winner at :39 seconds into overtime to give the Ice Dogs a 3-2 win at the Long Beach Arena. Bo Cheesman scored his first goal in an Ice Dogs uniform and Jeff Mason added the other for the Ice Dogs who snapped a four game losing streak. Mike Brown was great in net stopping 32 of 34 Falcons shots. American Idol contestant William Hung sang "Achy Breaky Heart" and "She Bangs" during intermissions.

On Sunday, the Ice Dogs will host "Viva Las Vegas Night" at 6pm with the first 1000 fans receiving a deck of Ice Dogs' playing cards. Before the game, the Ice Dogs will be holding a "Charity Casino" to benefit the Long Beach Police Officers Association's Widow and Orphan Fund which is currently assisting Officer Wade and Office Yap and their families. The casino event starts at 5:00pm as attendees will be given gaming chips, which can be played on a variety of Las Vegas style games. These chips will be changed for raffle tickets during the evening, and various prizes will be awarded. A charitable contribution for the Widows and Orphans Fund will be requested. The Ice Dogs will be hosting an Elvis Presley Look-a-Like Contest with the winner receiving a free trip to watch the Ice Dogs play in Las Vegas.

Sunday night's game vs. the Fresno Falcons starts at 6:00 pm, with doors opening at 5:00pm. Season tickets and group sales for the 2006-07 season are on sale now.
