
Grizzlies Assigned Five More Players

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - The Utah Grizzlies announced today that the Dallas Stars, Utah's top National Hockey League affiliate, assigned defenseman Dan Jancevski and forwards Jim Montgomery, Barrett Heisten, Gavin Morgan and David Gosselin to Grizzlies' training camp.
Jancevski, 21, played 77 games (tied for the team lead) with the Grizzlies last season recording 13 assists and 147 penalty minutes (second on the team). The Windsor, Ontario native was the Star's second round pick (66th overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Montgomery, 33, finished 10th in the American Hockey League and was the Grizzlies leading scorer last season with 71 points (28-43-71) in 71 games. The Montreal, Quebec native has played in 121 career NHL games scoring nine goals and registering 25 assists. Last season, Montgomery played eight games with Dallas recording two assists. Montgomery has played in 379 AHL games scoring 425 points (143-282-425) with 429 penalty minutes.
Gosselin, 25, played 66 games with Milwaukee (AHL) last season scoring 11 goals and adding 21 assists with 112 penalty minutes. The Levis, Quebec native has played in 13 NHL games with Nashville recording two goals and an assist with 11 penalty minutes. The former third round selection (78th overall) by New Jersey in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft was acquired during the off-season by Dallas along with a fifth round draft pick from Nashville in exchange for Cameron Mann and the rights to goaltender Ed Belfour.
Heisten, 22, played 61 AHL games last season (12 with the Grizzlies) scoring 14 goals and adding 10 assists with 74 penalty minutes. For Utah, the Anchorage, Alaska native scored five goals and had an assist with 14 penalty minutes. The first round selection (20th overall) by Buffalo in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft was acquired by Dallas on March 12, 2002 from the New York Rangers along with Manny Malhotra in exchange for Roman Lyashenko and Martin Rucinsky. Heisten played in 10 NHL games with the Rangers last season recording two penalty minutes.
Morgan, 26, played 76 games with the Grizzlies last season recording eight goals and 24 assists along with a team-leading 249 penalty minutes. The Scarborough, Ontario native has played in 165 career games with the Grizzlies and ranks third on the team's all-time list with 442 penalty minutes.
The roster moves increase the number of players in training camp for Utah to 43 players.
The Grizzlies will have a pair of Green-White exhibition games this weekend (Friday, Sept. 27 and Saturday, Sept. 28) at the Acord Ice Center. Face-off for each game is 7:30 pm with tickets costing $5.00.
