South Carolina Stingrays News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC The South Carolina Stingrays hit the ice this Sunday morning to begin training camp for their tenth anniversary season. The Rays will be on the ice at the Carolina Ice Palace at 10:00 AM on Sunday. 22 players will take to the ice for training camp, which will include three preseason games.
The Rays will skate every day at the Carolina Ice Palace from Sunday through Friday, October 4 at 10:00 AM. South Carolina will take part in weight training sessions at Charleston Health and Fitness following each practice during training camp.
"We are very fortunate to have the Carolina Ice Palace and Charleston Health and Fitness at our disposal during training camp," explained Assistant Coach Jared Bednar. "Both facilities are second to none."
The Stingrays preseason schedule begins Friday, October 4th with a road game in Florence against the Pride. The two teams will lock horns the following night at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:30. The Stingrays play their final pre-season game on Monday the October 7th in Columbia against the Inferno at 7:05.
"I feel pretty comfortable with our preseason schedule this year," noted Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "Pee Dee and Columbia should give us a good barometer as to where we stand heading in to the season."
