
Ice Dogs Set For Training Camp

LONG BEACH, Calif. â The Long Beach Ice Dogs announced today that the club will open training camp on Mon., Sept. 30, in preparation for the 2002-03 West Coast Hockey League (WCHL) season.
Ice Dog players are officially due to report on Sat., Sept. 28, for an orientation meeting before taking their physicals on Sun., Sept. 29. The Ice Dogs will take the ice beginning Mon., Sept. 30, at Surf City Skate Zone in Huntington Beach (16091 Gothard St., 714.842.9143).
Daily practices will consist of on-ice workouts from 10-11:30 a.m. and are open to the public with free admission. Dry-land workouts will follow at the Long Beach Arena.
Highlighting the preseason is an exhibition game against the San Diego Gulls on Sat., Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the San Diego Ice Arena in Mira Mesa. Fans are urged to contact Gaston Larios or Craig Strerling at (858) 530-1825 for ticket information and directions for the exhibition game.
The Ice Dogs, who reached the playoffs the past six years, will open their seventh season on the road against the four-time Taylor Cup Champion San Diego Gulls on Sat., Oct. 12. The Ice Dogs will play two road games before their home opener on Sat., Oct. 26, against the Gulls at 7 p.m. at the Long Beach Arena.
