Chiefs Sign Six Players

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today the signing of six players. The Chiefs have re-signed forwards Jim Leger, Vladimir Nemec (NEM-ick), and Ryan Townsend. The club has signed centers Dominic Forget (FOUR-jay), Andy Doktorchik (DOC-tour-chick) and goaltender Ghyslain Rousseau (Guee-slain ROO-sew).

Leger, 26, was the Chiefs third leading goal scorer last season with 20. He also posted 17 assists in 59 games. The 5'10, 198 LBS native of Saugus, MA has appeared in 99 career games for the Chiefs scoring 29 goals and 24 assists (53 PTS). He also saw action in 18 games for the Wilkes/Barre Scranton Penguins in 2000-01. Leger is currently attending the Binghamton Senators (AHL) training camp.

Nemec, 23, appeared in 39 games for the Chiefs last season scoring 3 goals and 5 assists (8 PTS). He was signed by the Chiefs on November 2nd after beginning last season with the Idaho Steelheads of the West Coast Hockey League. The Trencin, Slovakia native played three years of professional hockey in Slovakia before going to Idaho in 2000.

Townsend, 25, scored 3 goals and 2 assists (5 PTS) in 32 games with Johnstown last season. The Concord, NH native played three years of college hockey at Salem State College prior to turning professional. Townsend scored a goal in each of the Chiefs last two regular season games last year.

Forget, 21, spent the majority of last season with the Louisiana IceGators where he scored 12 goals and 12 assists (24 PTS) in 62 games. He began the season with Austin (CHL) before being reassigned by the Houston Aeros (AHL) who he was under contract with. The 6'0, 180 LBS native of Ste. Julie, PQ played three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Shawinigan Cataractes. In 208 games with Shawinigan, Forget scored 120 goals and 222 assists (342 PTS). Forget is currently attending training camp with the Saint John Flames (AHL).

Rousseau, 20, spent the last three seasons with Baie-Commeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The 6'0, 162 LBS native of Black Lake, PQ saw action in 62 games for Baie-Comeau last season going 31-21-7 with a 3.13 GAA and a 0.898 save percentage. Rousseau had a 59-46-12 record in 137 games with Baie Commeau. He was the Buffalo Sabres fourth round draft pick (111th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Rousseau is also attending the Binghamton Senators training camp.

Doktorchik, 23, split last season with Baton Rouge and Cincinnati. In 27 games with Baton Rouge, he had 6 goals and 5 assists (11 PTS). In 10 games with Cincinnati, he had a goal and an assist. A native of Delia Alta, Alberta; Doktorchik stands 5'10, 180 LBS. He spent the entire 1999-00 season with Huntsville of the CHL where he scored 12 goals and 16 assists (28 PTS) in 65 games.
